The University of ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ has launched a new resource for exploring high-quality images of cultural collections and research projects at The University of ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ.

The new image viewer allows enhanced viewing and manipulation of ultra-high quality images, with a parallel display of text, audio and video content:

Research opportunities

ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ Digital Collections allows University of ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ academics to curate digital editions of important items from the collections, contextualising them and bringing their research on the collections to a wider audience.

ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ Digital Collections is launching today with the following collections:

The spectacular collections of the University of ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ Library and the University’s Cultural Institutions comprise millions of items. From papyri to pixels, cuneiform tablets to contemporary art, they span five thousand years and an astonishing array of world cultures. ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ Digital Collections provides an innovative platform to inspire researchers, students and many other audiences to explore these remarkable resources in amazing detail.

A cross-institutional collaboration

The image viewer has been led by Dr Guyda Armstrong, Faculty Lead for Digital Humanities, in close collaboration with:

  • Cambridge University Library,
  • The University of ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ Library,
  • The John Rylands Research Institute,
  • IT Services,
  • The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures,
  • ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ Museum, and
  • The Whitworth.
